Linwood

Dave is at Linwood (about 4 miles North East of Ringwood) where he takes a 3.5 mile circular route across stunning heathland, beautiful woodland and get to enjoy what he believes to be one of the best views in the New Forest!

It was a magnificent sunny (and fresh!) Autumnal November day with hardly a cloud in the sky & no wind. My walk included an opportunity to cross Dockens Water over Splash Bridge – one of the most photographed bridges in the area.

Logan got to have fun doing his “Whippet Zoomies” on the deep brown sand by Hasley Inclosure.

Having come across some fungi on this walk, I remembered that a couple of weeks earlier I had taken some film footage of some Devils Fingers, Stinkhorns & Yellow Stagshorn fungi at a location just South of Lyndhurst…..so I have included it within this video.

It was a great time of year to be walking through woodland with the leaves on the deciduous trees turning gold brown, gold & yellow – all the colours being brought out in the glorious sunshine.

NOTE: The New Forest Guide (that I mentioned in the video), written by Heywood Sumner, was first published in 1924 (2,000 copies). It was so successful that a second edition (4,000 copies) was published the following year.
