Andrews Mare & Foxhills

Dave undertakes a 4 mile circular route from Andrews Mare which is located about a mile to the West on Minstead.

Starting at the Andrews Mare Forestry Commission car park (Grid Ref SU255113) , I pass by Foxhills Lake (used every Sunday by the Southampton Model Power Boat Club (!) and head West up to Mogshade Hill. Along the way a visit the “Withybed Oak” which is one of the “top 20” oak trees in the New Forest.

At Mogshade Hill I explore a “secret pond” before heading East to Hart Hill where I enjoy spectacular views to the South. I finish off by walking along an ancient track called “Murrays Passage”. The weather was perfect for this relaxing walk.
