Dave explores the area around the North & North West of the village of Ashurst. The 3.5 mile circular route takes him into a number of woodland inclosures, taking advantage of well made tracks with hard surfaces.
We investigate the site of Costicles Pond – an area that was once an impressive expanse of open water over 200 years ago but now sadly reverted to a bog. The route takes us past the old Underkeepers Lodge and we come across a huge stack of Heather bales before crossing the Bartley Water twice.
It was a crisp Winter’s day and it seemed a number of horse owners were taking the opportunity of enjoying the January sunshine by either riding or carriage driving along the tracks.
I also get to give a little information about Logan’s background (following a number of requests from viewers!).
