Ashley Walk

Dave explores the area at Ashley Walk (in the North West corner of the New Forest, near Fordingbridge) that was once a Bombing Range in the Second World War. As well as enjoying some spectacular heathland & wonderful Woodland (great for a Dog walk!), we investigate various clues as to the area’s former use during WW2.

We come across the base of the “Ship Target”, the site of the “Wall Targets” (that were used to test the “Bouncing Bombs”), have fun in and around bomb craters and end up at a “mound” that had a hidden secret within it!

And finally we look at the site of the crater made by the “Grand Slam” bomb – the biggest bomb to be dropped on UK soil.
